Mission Qatar 2017

White Rock Consulting & Communications (WRCC) and Atlantic Trading Corporation (ATC) organized a trade delegation to Doha, Qatar to help bring Newfoundland and Canadian products to markets in the Middle East. This month-long venture commenced in November 2017 and featured various meetings and market research with key members in the region. The mission was headed by Douglas C. Power, President of Atlantic Trading Corporation with the support of Wanda Cuff Young, CEO of White Rock Consulting & Communications. Joining Power was an established seafood company in Newfoundland. As part of the mission, their joint goals were to explore export opportunities to provide fresh frozen seafood products to the Qatari market and to seek out interested buyers in the region, namely upscale restaurants, high-end hotels and dealers.

WRCC and ATC are currently planning their next joint mission to Qatar in April 2018 after receiving a positive response and overall success of Mission 2017. The team established business connections and highlighted many opportunities and new business avenues for Canadian companies. Now its time to move to the next level with the following sectors of interest:

  • Natural Resources- Mining

About Atlantic Trading Corporation (ATC)

ATC is an import-export brokerage firm that came to fruition after Doug Power spent seven years living and working in the State of Qatar and developing contacts such as Royal family members including sheikh, government officials, Qatari business groups and registered clients of the Canadian embassy. The company’s initial activities involve selecting high-quality, premium products from Canadian manufacturers that can then be exported to Qatar and sold to distributors, super markets, high-end hotels, and conference centers. ATC’s goal is to establish a presence in the Qatari market where they will branch out and begin to export to other countries in the GCC. This represents an opportunity to increase trade between Canada and the Middle East by supporting Canadian manufacturers who would otherwise be unable to export to the region based on financial and regulatory barriers to entry.
